SJFCU Donates over 1,000 Pounds of Food To Local Food Banks

Deptford, NJ – (April 12, 2010) – Local children and families in need will have access to more food in the coming weeks, thanks to the employees of South Jersey Federal Credit Union (SJFCU), who collected more than 1,000 pounds of canned goods and other non-perishables in a just-concluded company-wide Food Drive.

The 2010 Food Drive at SJFCU involved employees from all six branches of the credit union – in Deptford, Camden, Voorhees, Moorestown, Vineland and Pleasantville. The food drive ran for eight weeks, beginning in winter and culminating in spring. Pyramids of soup cans and stacks of tuna and vegetables donated by employees grew over the duration of the food drive.

In Deptford, donations from branches in the northern region of SJFCU (Moorestown, Camden and Voorhees) were added to the large accumulation in Deptford. More than 800 pounds
of canned goods were packed up for a waiting truck from the Food Bank of South Jersey, based in Pennsauken.

At SJFCU’s Pleasantville branch, the balance of more than 200 pounds of donations in the Atlantic County area was prepared for donation to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, based in Egg Harbor Township.
