Letter from our CEO on COVID-19

03/24/20

We understand there may be instances because of the impacts of COVID-19 that members may find themselves facing financial difficulties. We encourage our members who may be impacted to reach out to discuss how we might be of assistance.  We are providing a proactive approach such as:

Payroll deposits will be posted a day early if received from your employer.

Crisis Relief Loan.  If you're facing financial hardship due to an interruption in your income, you may qualify for a new SJFCU Crisis Relief Loan in amounts of $2,500 or $5,000 for a period of 1 or 2 years.  In addition, you may defer the payment for 90 days.  During this time, finance charges will accrue, but you won't be charged any late fees. Please apply online for this loan.

Skip-A-Pay on SJFCU Signature Loans, Auto Loans, and Credit Card payments.  You may defer your payment. Please contact us to arrange for the deferment. During this time, finance charges will accrue, but you won't be charged any late fees.  We normally charge a fee for this service.

Skip-A-Pay on SJFCU Home Equity payments.  If you're facing financial hardship due to an interruption in your income, you may defer your SJFCU Home Equity Loan or Line of Credit payments. Please contact us to arrange for the deferment. During this time, interest will accrue, but you won't be charged any late fees or have impacts to your credit. We normally charge a fee for this service.

Caring for our SJFCU team. To limit the number of employees in one location, many of our team members will be working remotely. However, be assured we will still be able to provide you with the level of service you’ve come to expect.

Service through SJFCU Branches. In order to help follow state guidelines and for the safety of our staff and members, we’ve updated our hours and how to interact directly with our branch network. New operation hours go into effect Wednesday, March 25, 2020. Please visit our website or social media for the most up to date information regarding our hours of operation and branch closings.

While many transactions can be accomplished by using available drive thru lanes, an ATM, our Contact Center, mobile or online banking, we request that if you still need to physically enter a branch due to the sensitive nature of your visit that you make an appointment by contacting us at 800-582-7640, or visiting the homepage of our website.

We hope these changes help and we are committed to looking for more ways to assist our members as we navigate these new waters together. This is a challenging time for many. But no matter what changes, one thing will remain the same: our commitment to you as employees and members.

Be safe and be well.

Ernest D. Huggard, CPA

President and Chief Executive Officer
